About this frame

The Melbourne is built around a high, arched headboard of sweeping iron scrolls, its heart-shaped openwork answered on a lower open footboard with a serpentine stretcher rail and warm brass ball finials at every corner. Cast rosettes and leaf-tipped C-scrolls are formed in solid metal rather than stamped from sheet — hand-shaped from thick-gauge iron and sealed in a durable powder-coated finish made for daily life.

One Heart, Head to Foot

Look closely and the Melbourne reveals its signature: a heart-shaped panel of openwork scrolls worked into the centre of the headboard and echoed again, lower and smaller, on the footboard. It's the detail that gives the frame its romance — two large C-scrolls curling in to meet, framed by the sweep of the arched top rail. Because the ironwork is cast and hand-shaped rather than pressed from sheet, each scroll keeps a genuine depth and weight you can read from a distance. Repeating the motif head and foot ties the whole bed together, so it reads as one considered piece rather than a headboard with an afterthought at the end. It's traditional ironwork at its most quietly confident.
