About this frame

Bowen pairs two classic materials to beautiful effect. Flat-topped head and foot rise in slim brass spindles, threaded at the centre with a row of fine porcelain beads and crowned by ornate turned urn finials on substantial posts. Every finial and fitting is cast in solid brass and finished by hand, for a warm, lustrous glow that deepens with age — while the porcelain adds a note of true Victorian elegance. Timeless, refined, everlasting.

Brass and porcelain — a Victorian signature

The detail that sets Bowen apart is the porcelain. Threaded along the brass spindles of both head and foot is a row of fine porcelain beads — a hallmark of the finest Victorian brass beds, where the coolness of porcelain was set against the warmth of solid brass for contrast and craft. Each bead is a small, hand-finished touch that catches the eye and softens the metalwork, lifting Bowen from a classic brass bed to something quietly special. It's heritage detailing you don't find on a modern reproduction.

Crisp Detailed Finish

Every frame is made from thick-gauge steel, traditionally cast and welded the way iron beds were built to last — solid where cheap frames are thin, and finished by hand rather than pressed on a line. It's the difference between a bed you replace and one you keep for decades.

Simple, Solid Support

A slat base with nothing to wear out. Each frame comes with individual solid slats that drop straight into their own slots — no tools, no tension springs, nothing to crack or sag over time. It's support built the same way as the frame: simple, sturdy, and made to hold for decades.

Trusted since 1968

A cast iron bed is a decades-long decision — and so is the company you buy it from. We've been in the same family for over fifty years: long enough to watch trends come and go, and stubborn enough to keep building beds the way that lasts. When a bed is meant to outlive the room around it, it matters who stands behind it.
