About this frame

Ballarat opens like a fan. Tier upon tier of arches radiate around a central oval cartouche, filled with intricate cast filigree and traced in twisted, rope-effect iron, with delicate florets tucked between every curve; the footboard carries the same spectacular theme. Hand-made from thick-gauge iron, every arch, twist and casting worked by hand in the traditional way. This is ornamental ironwork at full volume — a headboard that turns a bedroom into an occasion.

The rope twist that changes everything

Look closely at Ballarat and the ironwork isn't smooth — many of its arches and ovals are worked in a fine, twisted rope effect, each one shaped by hand so the light catches and travels along every strand. It's a technique you rarely see, and it's what lifts Ballarat from ornate to extraordinary: layered, textured, and endlessly rewarding the closer you look. Around a central cartouche of cast filigree, tier after tier fans outward like a peacock in full display. Not a bed that fills a corner — a bed that commands the room.

Crisp Detailed Finish

Every frame is made from thick-gauge steel, traditionally cast and welded the way iron beds were built to last — solid where cheap frames are thin, and finished by hand rather than pressed on a line. It's the difference between a bed you replace and one you keep for decades.

Simple, Solid Support

A slat base with nothing to wear out. Each frame comes with individual solid slats that drop straight into their own slots — no tools, no tension springs, nothing to crack or sag over time. It's support built the same way as the frame: simple, sturdy, and made to hold for decades.

Trusted since 1968

A cast iron bed is a decades-long decision — and so is the company you buy it from. We've been in the same family for over fifty years: long enough to watch trends come and go, and stubborn enough to keep building beds the way that lasts. When a bed is meant to outlive the room around it, it matters who stands behind it.
